Y-POW3R DAY digital – Time for Change

Es ist ein besonderes Anliegen der Benutzervereinigung Common Germany e.V. und dem ITP-Verlag GmbH, auch die junge Generation für die Plattform zu begeistern. Deshalb wurde die Y-POW3R ins Leben gerufen. Hier treffen sich junge Kollegen um sich untereinander und auch mit erfahrenen Kollegen auszutauschen. Die Vorträge von Experten und Nachwuchstalenten  wenden sich ganz speziell an die junge Generation.

Für die Y-POW3R 04/2023 haben die Veranstalter Ann-Kathrin Stückl und Kerim Güney tolle Speaker zum Thema „Time for Change“ organisiert.

Diese Präsentation bietet einen Einblick in unsere Erfahrungen und zeigt, wie Veränderungen Chancen bieten können, um den Erfolg unseres Unternehmens zu steigern.

It sounds like an oxymoron – serverless architecture is normally said in conjunction with frameworks like FastAPI in Python, Spring-boot in Java or LoopBack in Node.JS. But what about RPG? Can you leverage the same features in ILE? – of course you can! The ILEastic framework was made exactly to be a player in the world of microservices and serverless architecture – and even better: it is 100% open source. If you need to modernize your RPG code and make it available as services on the web – If microservices is a business strategy or just curious about tools like yum, git and gmake? – then this session is for you – it is Time For Change.

15:15	16:05	Jesse Gorzinski, IBM Rochester	𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗜𝗕𝗠 𝗶 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝗖𝘂𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴-𝗘𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 You probably know that IBM i and predecessor systems have survived the „test of time,“ enduring (and even thriving in) industry paradigm shifts, economic market volatility, and a constantly-changing technology landscape. You may not realize, though, that the IBM i platform has reinvented itself considerably in the last few years alone. The capabilities of the platform have fundamentally changed. The user community is more global and interconnected than ever. Most of all, the system is positioned for many more years of success! This discussion will focus on some of the key changes to the platform and user community. We will address some key questions: How do I future-proof my skills? How can I leverage the latest technologies efficiently and confidently? What’s the best way to collaborate with the community? What is the future of application development on IBM i? These things are important to think about: IBM i is 15 years old, with a lineage of 35+ years… And it’s just getting started!
